Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2025-10-17T09:32Z ( ACE: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
Activity ID: 2025-10-17T09:32:00-IPS-001 (version 3)
Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures)
Note: Characterized by a sudden increase in B-total from about 6 nT to about 12 nT, and peaking at 13 nT. Smooth rotation in the B-field components is observed. The sudden increase in B-total is immediately preceded by an increase in density from about 10cc to about 35cc, and has remained elevated at about 20cc for several hours since then. Solar wind speed has no significant increase, remaining around 390 km/s. Temperature has no notable increase. This signature was partially captured by DSCOVR after a data gap in DSCOVR lasting from 2025-10-17T08:52Z to 2025-10-17T10:58Z. The discontinuity seen in the magnetic field (Bz and Bx components) around 2025-10-17T13:15Z could indicate the arrival of the later (possibly the 2025-10-13T13:53Z) CME in what is likely a combined arrival of two CMEs (possibly the 2025-10-13T06:24Z and 2025-10-13T13:53Z CMEs).
